If it is not, then remove the $$$ inside the file, and replace it with your profile name. Apply your fixes and tabbing back in to the game, replace the profile with the one you backed up! In the event that you have to use this backup, ensure your name is in the $$$.txt file. Copy the entire folder to somewhere you will not forget it.

Game should start and ask you to make a profile, if not then go make one manually. If you do have that problem, see StonerKlown's post!) And as long as you don't get the problem StonerKlown had where the exe's themselves were resetting the key to have dashes in it. (Alternatively you can manage the key directly from the registry, as long as you don't run from steam you will only have to do this one time. Validate the key, click back, go to the main menu, quit game, run codwawmp.exe again. This will make sure the key is correct in the registry, as steam does not put the key in properly.

I can launch from codwaw.exe just fine, with or without administrator.) (I actually do not have to run it from codwawmp.exe any more. I have compatibility enabled on codwaw.exe but not codwawmp.exe, this suggests that this step is purely optional.

Optional: While enabling "run as administrator" option, you can enable compatibility for windows xp service pack 3. click on the compatibility tab and check "run as administrator" apply, then click ok. Right click on codwawmp.exe then click properties. (Substitute C for whatever your drive is labled of course, the path should always be the path to the game itself.) Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty World at War Log in to your router, configure port forwarding to your machine for ports 28960 (for both tcp and udp), and 3074 for udp only. Now here is the way I (EvilKlown) did it. I know this is not a long term solution but this is the best we came up with to play the game i hope this helps. Just make sure that if you do it this way make a back up of ur profile because any levels you gain while playing will most likely be set back to 0 the next time you log in. (remember how i said to keep the game open? this is why you would be alt tabbing back in to it!)
when you go in it should allow you to create a profile. when you click this folder on the right side look for Codkey and that should be ur key for the game all you want to do is double click the codkey and get rid of the - in it and just leave the numbers and letters.Ĥ.after doing the last step u can either leave the regedit open in case something messes up or close it then alt tab back into the game and click multiplayer. it better be.)ģ.go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, then SOFTWARE, then WOW6432NODE, then ACTIVISION, and lastly the CALL OF DUTY WAW folder. click your start menu and search for regedit and open it. launch the game and then alt tab out to your desktop. it puts 1k34-134j-1343-kd134-134j (not a real key) when in the registry if you take out the - it makes everything work correctly. The main reason this profile problem happens is because steam changes the format of your cd key in your registry. Ok so after about 3 hours of tinkering with things with my buddy evilklown we have come to this to help.
